Archery

Welcome to the Pacific Primitive Rendezvous Archery Competition. In the interest of encouraging more people to get involved in primitive archery, we will be having 2 divisions of competition, the entry level, "Pilgrim-Division" and the seasoned veteran's "Traditional Division"

General Rules:
(Unless specifically addressed elsewhere, the general and equipment rules apply to both divisions)

Be safe. Do not nock an arrow until you are at the firing line and ready to shoot.

Be sure everyone is finished shooting before going to retrieve arrows.

Watch your arrows carefully, so retrieving arrows will go quickly.
While retrieving arrows watch where you walk. If you are focused in on where your arrows are, it is very easy to step on someone else's arrow. Do not remove someone else's arrow from a target. If you see another arrow on the way to pick up yours, pick it up and carefully stick it in the ground so it is easy to see, or stand there with it until the owner sees that you have it. Do not pick it up and carry it along with you. Too much time has been spent looking for "Lost" arrows; only to find out that some kind soul had already picked it up.

No smoking on any of the archery ranges.

No whining, sniveling, cheating, backbiting, lying or otherwise unruly behavior. This is supposed to be fun!

Equipment Rules:

Bows, strings, arrows and accessories, whether commercially manufactured or handmade, must be made of natural materials. No plastic, fiberglass or any other "space-age" materials. *

No arrow rests built into the bow's riser.

No nocking-point attached to or marked on the bowstring.

Pilgrim Division:

Bows and arrows may be of commercial manufacture.

*Strings may be made with artificial sinew.

Traditional Division:

Bows, strings, arrows and accessories must be 100% handmade.

Arrowheads must be hand made of bone, stone or iron, or commercially made "trade-point" replicas.

We may get a chance to use some full sized 3D targets that belong to a local archery club. If so, they will allow only field-points to be shot. No matter what division you are shooting in, you should bring along some arrows with field-points. These arrows should still be made without any plastic fletching or nocks. Depending on the time available and the interest, we may have a Clout Shoot and an Archery Seneca Run. Bring a few trade-items for blanket prizes and maybe we can have a few jackpot or blanket prize shoots.

See you in Bear Valley,
Crazy Wolf
