This year's PPR will be held in Idaho for the first time. We are looking forward to having you come to our great state. Lewis and Clark traveled through this general area in September, 1805, so we are dedicating this year's PPR as the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Rendezvous. Hopefully you can spend a little more time before or after the rendezvous visiting the Clearwater Valley where Lewis and Clark spent some time with the Nez Perce and built their canoes before heading down-river to the snake and onto the Columbia on their journey to the Pacific Ocean.
The Pacific Primitive is a PRIMITIVE event! Please make sure that you come prepared with the proper canvas, appropriate footwear and clothing. If you must use non-period items, they are to be kept out of sight at all times. This year's archery program will be very primitive. No doweled arrows, no laminated bows, etc. The archery chief will be a real stickler on this so get your act together. Start making your arrows from twigs now. The shooting chief is getting together an extensive shooting program that offers a lot of variety. Seminars are shaping up and promise to offer a diverse selection of topics. It looks like we will continue in the tradition of excellent kid's activities throughout the entire event. This year there are some pretty elaborate things planned so it will be necessary for an adult to accompany the children to most activities. Fun will be had by both kids and adults alike as they share this program. Teens will have a wonderful program this year featuring a variety of activities, creative physical as well as mental. Maybe even an opportunity to learn a new skill that even the adults are still learning to master. Remember, no teen drinking as Idaho law prohibits this. The work crew will be in the week before. If your name is not on the work crew list, please do not attempt to get in early, as you will be turned around at the gate. We have an excellent staff with a lot of experience that have come together and volunteered their time to make the 2005 PPR Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Rendezvous a huge success. We are looking forward to seeing you all in Idaho. Firewood is readily available on site. Please use only what is down and dead. Do not cut down or in anyway harm living trees. (this includes your children - you are responsible for their actions). There is currently a spring with a cistern that will accommodate our needs for wash water. However, this water has not been tested and will not be until just before the event as things can happen between now and then. Therefore, please bring your own supply of potable water for the duration of PPR. Your Bourgeois for 2005, Terry "Dancing Bare" Evans. |
