Camp Rules

Every Primitive camp has its rules. Here is a list of PPR 2006 rules, a pre-1840 event. By signing your registration form, you acknowledge that you will follow them!

1) This is a pre-1840 rendezvous. You MUST arrive at the gate in primitive attire & leave in primitive attire. The rendezvous starts BEFORE you arrive and ends AFTER YOU LEAVE! This includes loading & unloading.

2) Primitive camp means: All clothing, lodges, and accoutrements must reflect the era of 1700 through 1840 in North America. NO modern footwear or sunglasses of any kind except as medically required. Period attire is required at all times both for adults & children. No modern clothing showing, and no halter or tank tops. All modern items such as coolers, water containers, and non-primitive items must be out of sight at all times or covered with period correct material at all times. Cameras, camcorders, etc must be covered when not being used & NO FLASHES. Please leave your cell phone at home or at least set it to vibrate rather than ring!! No Coleman-type propane, gas, or electric lanterns or flashlights are to be visible.

3) Traders: Anyone who sets up a shelter, blanket, etc to sell, trade or barter. All traders must pay the traders fee, either as a blanket trader or a full trader. All federal, state, and local wildlife regulations be observed. There will be a trade committee to inspect trade items.

4) Animals: Horses and mules are permitted. There will be a separate area for camping with horses and mules, and you must be in control of your animals at all times. Dogs and other animals are permitted but must be on a leash or restrained at all times. You are responsible for your animal at all times. If you animal disturbs other camps, you will have to take them home. If you are not sure how your animal will behave, it may be better for the animal to stay home. You must clean up after your pet at all times, especially in the area of your or other camps. Remember that obnoxious pets and people will be expelled.

5) NO ILLEGAL DRUGS ALLOWED AT THE RENDEZVOUS. NO UNDERAGE DRINKING

6) SMOKERS: Please be responsible for your butts! Field strip them or put them in your pocket.

7) There is firewood available in the form of downfalls, etc. Please do not cut live trees.

8) The Dog Soldiers are here to help you. If you need help, look for the red armbands and red flags throughout camp. Please remember, Dog Soldiers are not there to set up your camp, fetch water, or firewood.

9) Medical: The medical tent will be manned throughout the day. If you have a medical emergency, please flag down a dog soldier or member of the crew.

10) Parents are responsible for the actions of their children. No unescorted youth under the age of 16 beyond the general confines of the camp and Traders Row.

11) All drinks must be in primitive containers.

12) Hooters are not for garbage, disposable diapers, feminine products, or trash disposal. There will be a container near the gate for trash disposal and recycling. Please do not abuse this courtesy.

13) NO LOADED GUNS IN CAMP AT ANY TIME, Store shooting supplies carefully. Shooters must check shooting schedule for information and rules.

14) Thieves will be dealt with in camp. Survivors will be prosecuted.

15) Any hole dug must be filled before you leave, with the exception of your fire pit.

16) Items purchased on Traders Row that are in modern packaging must be kept out of sight, covered, wrapped, or placed in a pouch or period-correct container.

17) There are parking areas established for your vehicles. Your emergency locater serves as your parking permit. Vehicles or trailers parked in unauthorized areas or without emergency locater cards will be towed at the owners expense.

18) Only emergency vehicles are allowed in camp between 5PM, on the first Sunday, through 6AM on the last Saturday.

19) Fire Rules: All camps must have a shovel, fire bucket or water container in camp. When you dig a fire pit, clear a 2-foot area around it to bare ground. No garbage, cans, glass, or plastic in the fire pits. No large fires in individual camps. Campfires should be of cooking fire size only. No unattended campfires. Unattended fires will be put out. Be prepared for possible fire closures and be prepared to cook by alternate means. When you leave the Rendezvous, make sure your fire is dead out by drowning it. Leave the fire pit open - the staff will cover it.

20) Rendezvous rules are in effect the entire time you are at the site.
